My name is Audrey Lamy Martinot and I am the founder of Data Acteur.
Three years ago, I decided to embark on this adventure after spending 20 years observing recurring issues in the field of data. These observations, which are still relevant today, were the catalyst for my decision to create this company. Our mission is to support organizations in managing and enhancing their data.
Initially, an observation
Over the course of my career, I noticed that very few companies and communities were really using the potential of data. Even among my friends and colleagues in the sector, the observation was unanimous: data remained a field reserved for experts, whereas in my opinion, everyone should feel concerned. I was often told: « I don’t understand what you do – what’s the point? » » or even: « For my part, I am not concerned by data, it is the IT department that takes care of it! ».
Upon arrival, many challenges
Many people were becoming aware that data was part of their daily lives, but did not know how to use it effectively. The massive accumulation of data overwhelmed them, leading to incorrect decision-making.
In addition, the organization to be set up around the data was often nebulous.
I remember a colleague who told me: « 50% of our customers are unhappy ». When I dug deeper, I discovered that this figure was based on only two returns. Another example, following the sending of a letter based on erroneous information, it generated so many incoming calls that a second letter had to be sent to apologize, resulting in a considerable loss of time and money. The impact of a misinterpretation of data can be catastrophic!
The indicators provided remain invariably the same, but the reason for their use has been forgotten. This no longer provides a clear, relevant and understandable vision. I have often heard this justification: « We continue to calculate them because it is historical! »
Data was seen only as a tool to generate dashboards and monitoring, while it can have a much broader impact on humans and processes. Data management was not integrated upstream of the valorization of data and mathematical models, which is a mistake.
A result, the creation of Data Acteur
These observations prompted me to create Data Acteur, with the aim of supporting the integration of data into everyone’s daily life and transmitting best practices. We are working to link the data office with the professions and the IT department, because everyone has a role to play.
Data Acteur is dedicated to breaking down silos between technicians and businesses, making data accessible and understandable to all, and enhancing data in a cross-functional manner to extract its best value. We believe that data must be integrated from the beginning of strategic processes to have a significant impact.
Data Acteur’s aim is to always keep two ideas in mind:
• Data only has value if it is used by businesses.
• None of us knows what we all know together. (Lao Tzu).
Three years after the creation of Data Acteur, I am proud to see how we have been able to support many companies and institutions to better understand, enhance and use their data, improve their processes and make fairer and more informed decisions.
Our mission continues, and we remain committed to providing our expertise and know-how to manage your data until it is optimally enhanced.
